With its new status as a Cycling Demonstration Town, historic Chester is an ideal pit stop on this year’s Tour Series circuit.

In April 2009, Chester launched its Cycling Demonstration Town status – part of a £2.4 million initiative to improve Chester’s cycling infrastructure.  It’s one of just 17 demonstration towns nationwide and the investment will see cycling become a real transport option, improve the local environment, reduce city centre congestion and promote health and fitness.

The borough of Cheshire West and Chester is an exceptional place with diverse scenery and communities.  And, as its capital, the fascinating walled city of Chester is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country.  Evidence of its origins is still very much apparent with the largest Roman amphitheatre in Britain and plenty pieces of the past displayed at heritage sites and local exhibitions.

Although built on history and heritage, 21st century Chester is a vibrant city with excellent opportunities to see the sights, enjoy family fun, shop ‘til you drop and experience some of the best Cheshire cuisine.  From its fabulous Zoo to its famous race course, Chester has something special for everyone to enjoy.
