The team of 1978 British Champion Phil Corley return to The Halfords Tour Series after a promising first season in which they finished seventh. If they’re going to move up the Series table however, they’ll need to get riders into the top ten more regularly than in 2009.
Former National Criterium Champion Simon Gaywood could be key to that, the 31-year-old put in a good ride to finish third on home roads at Milton Keynes last May so more nights like that are required.
Matthew Higgins was Corley’s other top ten finisher last term, and elder brother Steven now joins him, while another new signing is former motorcross rider Ashley Cox. Continuing the motorsport theme, the squad were launched at F1 driver Mark Webber’s restaurant – The Stag in Mentmore, with the Red Bull ace in attendance in his role as honorary President of the team.
Once again Corley will be raising money for the Willen Hospice throughout the season and hoping the surpass mark of over £7,000 they raised in 2009.
