The ten venues which will welcome Britain’s leading televised cycle race Series this May and June have this weekend been announced at the iceBike* show in Milton Keynes.

The 2016 Pearl Izumi Tour Series, the eighth season of the unique team based town and city centre race Series, will begin on the Isle of Man on Thursday 12 May, finishing five weeks later in Portsmouth on Thursday 9 June, visiting the likes of Edinburgh, Durham and Stoke-on-Trent, the 2016 UK European City of Sport along the way.

Alongside the ten venues, the six top British professional teams who will race at all ten events in 2016 have been confirmed, led by reigning Champions Madison Genesis.

The opening event takes place at Ramsey on the Isle of Man on Thursday 12 May as a part of the Isle of Man Cyclefest presented by the Isle of Man Bank.  Teams will also contest an opening Team Time Trial before the opening circuit race on the 1.6-kilometre circuit based around Ramsey’s Mooragh Park.

For the first time in the Series Scotland will host a complete week of racing, with Motherwell being joined by a returning Edinburgh in Week Two, with the rounds taking place on Tuesday 17 and Thursday 19 May respectively.  Motherwell will also host the opening round of an expanded six round women’s series.

Redditch in Worcestershire will return for a fifth year running, also hosting a women’s race alongside their men’s event on Thursday 26 May.  A night later and the Pearl Izumi Tour Series moves to Wales, as Aberystwyth hosts Round Five as a part of the three-day Aber Cycle Festival on Friday 27 May.

Half-term week will see the ever popular return to the cobbles and climb of Durham on Tuesday 31 May before Stoke-on-Trent returns to the calendar after a year’s absence on Thursday 2 June.  As the city celebrates being the UK’s European Capital of Sport in 2016 the Potteries venue will host both men and women’s races.

The final week of the Pearl Izumi Tour Series will see a triple-header with Stevenage joining the Series to build on the Hertfordshire town’s successful hosting of the Aviva Women’s Tour in 2015.  Stevenage will welcome the Series on Monday 6 June, hosting both men and women’s races.

Round Nine will be at Croydon, with the south London venue using a completely new circuit on Tuesday 7 June to host the penultimate men and women’s races of the Series.

The final round, which will also include the final event in the women’s series, will take place on a new circuit in the centre of Portsmouth based upon the Guildhall Square and include a range of support races and activities during the day on Thursday 9 June.

The Portsmouth final will be extra special, as the city’s Gunwharf Quays shopping centre is home to Series title sponsor Pearl Izumi’s only UK outlet store, stocking running, cycling and triathlon apparel and footwear.
