Aylsham will for the first time host The Pearl Izumi Tour Series and Johnson Health Tech Grand Prix Series in June this year.

Under glorious Norfolk sunshine Aylsham welcomed Node4 Giordana Racing rider Steve Lampier and members of the East Anglian press to an event in the town centre to promote the penultimate leg of both Series on Thursday 13th June.

Following successful visits by The Tour of Britain to Norfolk for the last three years, this will be the first time the county will host a Pearl Izumi Tour Series event and it looks set to be an amazing spectacle.

The Pearl Izumi Tour Series now in its fifth season of racing sees Britain's top professional cycle teams battle it out through town and city circuits throughout the UK, with Aylsham and Ipswich hosting an East Anglian double-header to round out the 2013 season.

The spectator friendly circuit which starts and finishes just below the market square looks to be both fast and technical and will no doubt provide high quality action. Steve Lampier spoke of his excitement of the course being a "real racer's circuit", highlighting the rising drag to the line that will prove decisive on the final lap.

With a wide range of community activities and support events planned for the day, plus Round Four of the Johnson Health Tech GP Series at 5.30pm and the main Pearl Izumi Tour Series race at 7.30pm, there’ll be plenty to see and do for local residents and visiting spectators alike.

More details on the Aylsham leg including a course video will be available early next week so keep checking back to TheTour.co.uk for more information. In the meantime you can also have a watch of a short clip of the Aylsham launch below or by clicking here.
