Cycling fans in London will have the chance to see some of Britain’s top riders in action this week, as the unique team based Pearl Izumi Tour Series arrives at the world famous business and shopping district of Canary Wharf.

Canary Wharf hosts the cycle race Series for the fourth time this Summer, with Round Eight taking place this Thursday (6th June). Among the riders racing will be double Olympic Champion Ed Clancy, who has already taken victory in two rounds in 2013, and Olympic Silver medallist Ross Edgar of Team IG Sigma Sport.

Team UK Youth, backed by Formula One World Champion Nigel Mansell, lead the way following Round Seven in Redditch, heading Team Raleigh by five points at the top of the standings in the unique team based Series.

The Redditch event was won by Tom Scully (Team Raleigh), while Metaltek – Knights of Old will go into the Canary Wharf race buoyed by their first ever team victory in the competition.

The Pearl Izumi Tour Series Canary Wharf presented by Cyclist magazine will also see some of the top businesses from Canary Wharf in action in the Cyclist magazine Canary Wharf Corporate Grand Prix raising the curtain on the evening’s action.

Thirteen teams, including squads from IG, Barclays, Clifford Chance, Linklaters and Thomson Reuters, will take part in the race, each partnered by a professional rider from The Pearl Izumi Tour Series.

The Pearl Izumi Tour Series will be a great night out at Canary Wharf, with the bars, restaurants and famous towers providing an impressive backdrop for the action.”

Highlights of the Canary Wharf event will be shown on ITV4 at 10pm on Friday 7th June, with a repeat at 8am the following day.
