Saturday 4 May 2019 marks the first-ever Surrey Day, just three weeks ahead of the OVO Energy Tour Series Grand Final in the county at Brooklands.

Surrey receives around 26 million day visitors a year and has an international reputation for horse racing, award-winning theatres, art galleries, restaurants and hotels, and Visit Surrey are harnessing all that regional pride into today’s celebrations across the county.

However, come Saturday 25 May, two teams will be basking in their own deserved glory as they will be crowned the OVO Energy Tour Series men’s and women’s champions for 2019.

Brooklands Community Park will host the series’ Grand Final for the first time, with the elite races forming just part of a packed day of cycling action.

Of course, Surrey has extensive links to cycling, especially over the past decade. Woking previously hosted the OVO Energy Tour Series on a number of occasions: it was an ever-present on the schedule between 2009 and 2014, and also hosted four women’s rounds in that time.

The county now gets international cycling exposure each summer, as its roads and hills make up a large part of the Prudential RideLondon event featuring the world’s leading men’s teams and 25,000 amateur riders.
