Following in the footsteps of other high-profile sportsmen to become involved in cycling teams, England cricketer Matt Prior is to be the CEO of new team ONE Pro Cycling.

Aiming for UCI Continental status in 2015, to join the likes of Madison Genesis and JLT Condor, ONE Pro Cycling may be a new look team, but there are plenty of established Pearl Izumi Tour Series stars on the riding strength.

Four Tour Series round winners, including Jon Mould who took a hattrick of wins and the Sprints Jersey in 2014 are on the roster, in a team which have named Yanto Barker as their captain.

There is also a return to the Continental level for Peter Williams, who won the Tour of Britain’s YodelDirect Sprints Jersey in 2012, while an intriguing signing is Danish rider Marc Hester, more known for his exploits on the track.

Following the announcement, Prior, who has won 79 Test caps for England to date, said: “Cycling is a huge passion of mine and I am delighted to be setting up ONE Pro Cycling with a team of experienced and dedicated people. It will be a big challenge but one I’m thoroughly looking forward to. The group of riders we have is an exceptional one -not only because of the team’s ability on the bike but also the spirit we have off it. We have a team that could potentially do something very special and that excites me.”

Renown coach Steve Benton and Team Manager Becky Frewing will be joined by Sports Director Matt Winston, previously the Great Britain Olympic Development Coach.
