Team Raleigh were the opening night winners in the 2013 Pearl Izumi Tour Series, here’s the reaction from Team Manager Cherie Pridham and lead finisher Tom Scully.

Speaking post-race, Tom Scully, who made his Pearl Izumi Tour Series debut in Kirkcaldy, and took second on the road behind winner Yanto Barker was understandably please with how things turned out.

“It is a good start to the Series” the New Zealander said as he warmed down on the rollers afterwards. “I wasn’t sure before the race how it was going to go. There was a lot of talk about how rapid it was going to be from the start and it was. I gave it a nudge and got away and a couple of guys came across which was what I wanted.

Asked about the pressure riders are under to do well for their teams in such an important Series.  “I think that is great and there is a lot of passion about doing well in it. You can see that in everyone, the riders, the managers, The Pearl Izumi Tour Series organisation, and it’s a great thing to be part of. Everyone is gunning for it and when everyone is that passionate about it and excited about doing well, it makes it good fun.”

Cherie Pridham (Manager, Team Raleigh) said, “We have had three or four months of hard work doing the right preparation for the boys and I am really happy for them. I am am really happy for them  as they deserve it. Its good when you set out with a plan and it comes off.”
Asked if a team with strength in depth like Team Raleigh will be choosing specific riders for specific courses. Cherie, replied “We have the depth to be able to rest riders and I was confident in the riders I brought here tonight. We stuck to the plan and it went well for us. Durham is a completely different course so we will make a few changes.”
