Team Breeze took their first ever Matrix Fitness Grand Prix Series team win at Round Three of the Series in Northwich, with Emily Nelson securing her first ever victory in a closely fought race.

Nelson sprinted to victory at the end of the nineteenth lap as a 20-strong bunch contested the finish, heading home Round One victor Alice Barnes and teammate Ellie Dickinson, who took over the lead of the Eisberg Sprints Jersey.

With a third Breeze rider, Megan Barker, in sixth, it was a clear victory of the squad over Series leader’s Drops, who retained the lead at the end of week one of competition.

The UCI team, who also have a squad competing in the Tour of California currently, now enjoy a seven point lead over Team Breeze, with Team WNT now a further nine points further back.

Nelson’s final lap effort at the head of the bunch also secured her the Brother Fastest Lap trophy for the evening, while Drops’ Rebecca Durrell is the leading individual rider in the Matrix Fitness Grand Prix Series.
