This year’s Tour Series, the 13th edition of the UK’s most popular televised cycle race series, will feature a number of innovations as part of our commitment to supporting gender equality in cycling.

We’re delighted to announce that the 2022 series, which will take place between Monday 2 and Saturday 21 May, will feature two notable changes from previous years:

  • Men’s and women’s rounds will both take place over the same one hour plus five lap distance
  • A new, alternating race-day schedule: the women’s race will follow on from the men’s event at selected rounds

 

These changes follow on from the steps that the Tour Series has previously taken to support gender equality:

  • Introduction of a women’s series in 2011
  • Extensive TV and digital coverage of every women’s race
  • Equal number of men’s and women’s rounds since 2019
  • Equal prize fund since 2021

 

Three rounds for the 2022 series have already been announced: Guisborough will host the opener on Bank Holiday Monday (2 May), with Sunderland also returning for a second year running on Tuesday 10 May. The series will visit London for the first time since 2018 when Barking hosts what promises to be one of the quickest rounds in history on Saturday 21 May.
